THROUGH THE LENS, August 19, 2020

Over the last several weeks, as discourse in America and on campus has fixated on the Presidential impeachment and Democratic nominations, some Yale students have been diligently working to raise awareness on a topic from across the world--the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in India. The CAA threatens to jeopardize the future of the world’s largest democracy, by rendering millions of people, particularly those from marginalized Muslim, Dalit, and Adivasi communities, stateless. Through demonstrations, posters, and teach-ins, they hope to express solidarity with large-scale protests that have spread across India since December, and to help us look beyond our immediate political horizons.
